History Mystery

By Thea Ooi-Chatten and Mavis Cropp

For this issue’s History Mystery, we went down to the tunnel and scavenged until we found a plaque. This large and shiny plaque is an award to CFI 84 teachers from many years ago. At the top of the plaque it says “For investing themselves in the lives of our children…for patiently nurturing our children’s need to know and understand…for sharing our concern that the years of childhood prepare the way for a competent, responsible maturity,” and then goes on to list 37 former teachers. There is no date for when the plaque was created, but the first name with a date was Rose A. Baker 1961- 1986. The last date on the plaque is Deborah O’Reilley 2004. This is a significant discovery because this plaque is quite old. We need to remember these important teachers.
